so i was like "what tf is up with that MPAA title card? this is obviously a joke, too". then it wasn't a joke.

then i remembered how the MPAA title cards look really blocky from digital projectors. so maybe the MPAA has finally decided to make a new, more-high-resolution trailer card, and they changed the font while they were at it?

crude as it is in its use of a shortened form of the word "whore" to describe women, "bros before hos" is, at its core, a rather passive male philosophy for specific party situations: it says "we're going to hang out and be cool dudes tonight and not to go home with any girls, because we are keeping this party going all night as sworn brothers".

it implies dudes ignoring sexual desire for a period of time . . . not killing women and high-fiving afterward.

so my issue with that being the title of the achievement is that it's totally wrong: some lazy, weird, probably gross achievement-text-writer figured that "bros before hos" was otherworld slang for "let's kill the women and keep on having this ill-advised beard and cranium tattoo".

it's a real shame that a lot of the kids on the field in high school football are never inspired to consider the bigger picture outside of "hit the guy" or "he's going to give you the ball and you're going to get through those guys".

for years, now, i've been saying that we need multiple selectable commentators for televised sports — i've just always felt like no one talks about sports the exact same way i like to think about them.

regardless of your hoping for it, i will die someday. and so will you!

however, on my tombstone, it's going to say "name was attached to a 62-word blurb he didn't write in GQ magazine in 2004". on yours it's going to say "said 'i hope you fucking die' to some guy on the internet".

one thing i learned real fast working as a full-time professional suit-wearing businessperson was that "great minds think alike" and "good ideas are contagious" etc are only half true — the real truth is that "if two or more people don't have it on opposite corners of the world at the same time independently of one another, it's not actually a good idea at all". that's too long to fit on a t-shirt, though.

i'm not trying to say they "stole" my idea, nor am i saying that they were inspired by my post! i'm saying that i did in fact write this several weeks ago; i write many things, all the time, in many sprawling google docs.

not saying any sort of idea theft happened! i was just trying to point out that i honestly had this idea independently of penny arcade (also the game "blood bowl" had the idea independently of both me and penny arcade (also this is a common discussion among game designers independent of myself, kotaku, and blood bowl)). not trying to diminish penny arcade's credibility or anything!
